our story
In 2001, True Hairdressing, was created by husband and wife team Phil & Jane Hales. Since then, it’s been an outstanding success, continuing to grow in size and reputation. With their daughter Jade part of the team too, they’ve created a family business that really cares for the customer.
For forty years, Phil has been in the hairdressing trade allowing him to bring a wealth of creative and business expertise to the team at True. During his career, he achieved the finals of the British Hairdressing Awards in 1995, among just five others and was nominated for Southern Hairdresser of the year. Phil has also travelled across Europe, demonstrating and teaching his skills to future stylists. At the Salon, he has made staff training a key part of his role, setting a precedent for his team of stylists.
“Jane and I wanted to have a salon that reflected how we think hairdressing should be, honest advice and well-trained skills, “best practice” in all that we do. Combined with excellent service and a calm ambience so that people can escape the world and its pressures when they are with us.
The Salon takes every chance it can to learn new techniques with its supplier Wella and utilises every possible opportunity for training. It’s a pivotal part of our business, ensuring that the excellent record of staff training is maintained to ensure a perfect experience for every customer. Our staff have been incredibly loyal, with many returning to work flexibly whilst their families grow.
Jade has completed two years of rigorous training to achieve a ‘Wella Master Colour Expert’ qualification, which is coveted heavily in her field. Her skills and knowledge have been passed onto our other members of staff and is priceless when it comes to resolving any problems clients might have with colour. We think that this skillset is vital, as it provides our clients with the expert knowhow that they deserve.
